The place name Woolgarden is first recorded in 1284 when it is spelt ‘Wulgaveren’, possibly meaning Feast of St Keverne. The farm sits in Anciently Enclosed Land so is steeped in the history of long gone eras. The existing house dates back to the 17th century, possibly even earlier, while the farm buildings which we are gradually converting, were originally built in the early 19th century and steadily added to into the early 20th century. Overall, the spacious and historically interesting nature of the site makes it rare and special.

Although no longer a working farm, we produce a reasonable amount of veg in the veg patch and polytunnel (new in 2020). We also keep bees, hens and pigs while our neighbour uses the fields to graze her flock of Zwartbles sheep. Visiting at any point early in the year will mean you get the chance to meet the new lambs of the season. In fact, the surrounding fields will be full of them throughout spring which is always a joy.
